The Big Sur coast of California offers one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world. From the crashing waves that pound the Big Sur cliffs to the teaming waters of the world famous Monterey Bay, volunteers will enjoy an unforgettable vacation as they explore California's spectacular coastline.

Many of these breathtaking wilderness areas are part of the California State Parks system. The Nature Corps has teamed up with park staff to help restore these world renowned habitats. As part of the Big Sur vacation, the volunteers will focus their efforts to restore the region's coast dunes and foothill habitats by:

  • Removing nonnative vegetation
  • Collecting seeds of endangered flora
  • Propagating native vegetation in the park nurseries
  • Planting native flora to restore impacted habitats in Big Sur

Volunteers devote a portion of the excursion to working on these important conservation projects. During the remaining part of your volunteer vacation, you will have the opportunity to walk along sandy beaches and rocky coastline vistas, take wine country tours and shop artisan villages.

There are also opportunities for golfing, hiking, biking, going to festivals, farmers markets, shopping, art shows, and wine tasting.

Guided VIP excursions to points of interest in Big Sur and Monterey, delicious meals and comfortable accommodations are included as part of this all inclusive volunteer vacation.
