This year’s event includes a fabulous tour of Hearst Castle and a visit to Harmony Cellars, a beautiful vineyard tucked away in the hills of the historic town of Harmony on world famous Highway One.
Nestled in the hills overlooking the quaint, artisan town of Harmony, just off Highway 1, Harmony Cellars Winery produces award-winning wines and offers a remarkable view of the coastal countryside.
What a way to top off our day in the sun as we work to preserve the dunes at the Morro Bay Strand.
To learn more about this vacation, review the Morro Bay itinerary. Thank you in advance for volunteering to preserve this world-class resource.
Space is limited so make your reservations now. (*The tuition will be $645 for reservations made after 7/31/12.)
Join us in 2012 for the Savor the Central Coast Event
The Central Coast of California offers one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world. From the tranquil and biologically rich waters of the National Estuary in Morro Bay to the Elephant Seal rookeries on the shores below Hearst Castle, volunteers will enjoy an unforgettable vacation as they explore California's "gold coast".
Many of the rare wilderness areas along this diverse coastline are part of the California State Parks system. The Nature Corps has teamed up with park staff to help restore these world famous habitats. As part of the Morro Bay and Hearst Castle vacation, volunteers will participate in projects at the Castle as well as on important efforts to restore the coastal sand dunes ecosystem by:
Removing nonnative vegetation
Collecting seeds of endangered flora
Propagating native vegetation in the park nurseries
Planting native flora to restore impacted habitat in the Morro Bay Strand
Maintian the gardens and preserve the architectual beauty of Hearst Castle
As part of the Morro Bay vacation, volunteers will also participate on projects at the world famous Hearst Castle.
Volunteers devote a portion of the excursion to working on these important conservation projects. During the remaining part of your volunteer vacation, you will have the opportunity to walk along Morro Bay's sandy beaches, enjoy dramatic coastline vistas, take wine tasting tours and shop artisan villages.
There are also opportunities for surfing, golfing, hiking, biking, bird watching, kayaking, attending special festivals, sampling foods at San Luis Obispo's Farmers' Market, shopping, viewing art shows, wine tasting and visiting Hearst Castle.
Guided VIP excursions to points of interest in Morro Bay, delicious meals and comfortable accommodations are included as part of
this all inclusive volunteer vacation.
Proceeds from this volunteer vacations program will be used to support our Student Volunteers. For that reason, a portion of your tuition is tax deductible.
