Throughout the latter part of his stay at the Cousteau Society, Mr. Landon helped produce the Cousteau Encyclopedia for the European market, as well as organize a development campaign to support the institution's multi-million dollar program.

In February, 1980, Mr. Landon joined the American Cancer Society as head of the Development Office for the Los Angeles coastal area. His responsibilities included the a $1 million direct mail and major gift campaigns. He also organized special events and tribute dinners with noted entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Peggy Lee.

Having a deep, long-standing concern for the environment, in the Spring of 1983, Mr. Landon started the Sousson Foundation, known today as The Nature Corps. As a result of a 1987 report released by the President's Commission on Americans Outdoors, he initiated a public awareness campaign highlighting the need for volunteers in our national parks. Since The Nature Corps was established, thousands of volunteers have participated in its program, donating over $3,000,000 of labor on various projects in the National Parks

Under his direction, The Nature Corps has also produced, in conjunction with California Polytechnic State University, the World Wildlife Foundation and the Smithsonian Institution, an international teleconference on the preservation of the tropical rainforest.

In addition to his involvement with The Nature Corps, Mr. Landon served on the Yosemite Centennial Planning Committee and the State of California’s Natural Resources Committee.

He currently serves as Chairman of The Nature Corps Board of Directors.
