Project S.A.V.E. - Single Day and Weekend Projects

Project S.A.V.E. (Special Assignment Volunteers for the Environment) are intensive one-day park projects open to the general public. Typically, volunteers work to preserve an impacted habitat or assist in the preparation of critical conservation project. There are no tuition costs and free camping is provided. Usually workdays are held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. For a schedule of events please refer to the application page.
    Project:
    Typically revegatation and tree planting projects.

    Why:
    Restore impacted habitats and wildlife areas.

    What's Involved:
    Digging holes in arid rocky soil where 1 gallon containers of native flora and tree seedlings will be planted.

    Who's Invited:
    Community service groups, corporate employees, Boy Scouts, youth groups, students, seniors, families and individuals are welcome. No special skills or equipment is necessary, just a willingness to help. (Tools will be available at the park. However, to be sure that there are enough tools to go around, please bring posthole diggers, shovels and rockbars if you have them.)

    Where:
    Sequoia National Park. To get to the park take Highway 198 through Visalia and go past Three Rivers to the park entrance. (We will e-mail you camping information along with your registration confirmation. Everyone is responsible for their own food, tents etc.)

    When:
    We will meet at the Lodgepole Visitor Center in Sequoia NP on Saturdays at 9AM and then volunteers will be escorted to the planting sites. Workday ends at around 4PM. For a schedule of events please refer to the application page.

    How:
