The other half of the volunteer vacation will be devoted to learning about and exploring the natural wonders of Hawaii. This Hawaiian adventure will give volunteers an opportunity to visit spectaculars waterfalls, lush rain forests, remote seacoasts, snorkel around coral reefs teaming with undersea life, and view glowing lava as it cascades into a moonlit ocean.

Proceeds from our volunteer vacations program will be used to support our Student Volunteer program. For that reason, a portion of your tuition is tax deductible.

Day 1
Arriving at the Kona Airport. Please be sure your flight arrives by 3:00PM. Transfer to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Along the way will stop to explore some black sand beaches and look for sea turtles relaxing on the shore. After settling in to the Country Goose B&B, we will have a festive dinner and then gather for an overview of our upcoming excursion through Hawaii. Afterwards, we will gather at a vista point with an incredible view of the Volcanoe to participate in the “Friendship Circle”, an interactive game designed to help everyone get acquainted.
Day 2
Welcome and Introductions from the National Park Service. Review safety precautions and begin working to restore the delicate ecosystems of the Soapberry Canopy Rainforest . In the late afternoon we will visit a fascinating volcanological museum, the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum and Observatory and then hike through rainforests filled with giant tree ferns, underground lava tubes and down into the mouth of a volcano to view sulfur banks and steam vents. From there we will visit the charming small Hawaiian town of Pahalo to dine and explore its ethnic shops and sights.
Day 3
Continuing working in the rainforest. After work we will explore the dramatic 11-mile Crater RimDrive to explore volcanoes and dramatic lava formations.

At the end of the drive we will view the sunset over black sand beaches and watch a spectacular display of glowing molten lava pour into the moonlit ocean.

Day 4
