Youth/Student Programs

Youth Stewardship Programs

Nature Corps collaborates with park agencies and various youth organizations to utilize the awe-inspiring beauty of our parks to impact low-income youth. The goal of the program is to instill the students with an appreciation for nature and encourage them to serve as stewards of our public lands.

To achieve these objective Nature Corps’ five-day outdoor adventures implement the following components:

  • Engaging, hands-on outdoor education programs
  • Rewarding volunteer opportunities
  • Showcasing fulfilling careers in conservation, and
  • Introducing the youth to exciting outdoor recreational opportunities

Program Objectives

Convincing most young people to do hard physical work for several days on behalf of the common good is an ethic that is foreign to most nowadays. But by combining volunteering with “insider” environmental education and recreation, a package is created that has proven irresistible to all but a few. Each and every expedition produces tangible results— trees planted, habitat restored or meadow reestablished. These outcomes spell success for every member on the team, and most look forward to on-going interaction with their contribution to the environment.

A Final Thought:

With your support, Nature Corps makes it possible for more undeserved youth to enjoy the personal rewards of working to preserve our nation’s most cherished natural treasures. Please consider making a donation to support this successful program or contact us for more information. (The Nature Corps is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization.)

Sequoia Volunteer Vacation

This is like no other experience. You will come for a weekend getaway, but leave the legacy of a lifetime.

It’s an experience that will rejuvenate your marriage
and leave you with a lifetime of memories.

Why Sequoia needs you.

Sequoia faces a multi-million dollar backlog of important conservation projects. To address this critical issue, the National Park Service turns to agencies such as Nature Corps to recruit and organize volunteer groups to tackle the most urgent projects. Your participation will help the National Park Service achieve critical conservation projects that are too large to complete without volunteer support.

Currently, Nature Corps has teamed up with the Park Service to rehabilitate Sequoia’s beautiful sequoia groves. Giant Sequoias have a root ball that extends over two acres, yet its roots are only 3-4 feet below the surface. Because of the impact resulting from the foot traffic of over one million visitors per year, it is critical that these ancient trees and their surrounding habitat are protected. Through our Sequoia voluntours, you will have a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and work alongside park biologists to preserve these world-renown ecosystems. Your involvement is vital to the protection of the region’s wildlife and to the preservation of this iconic national park. Join us today!

A Special Invitation to Military Couples:

You are invited to go behind the scenes with the National Park Service to help preserve Sequoia’s world-renowned resources. You will join other military couples, who like you, are eager to leave their personal conservation legacy in this breathtaking park. Through the seminar series "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage", marriage counselor, author, and speaker, Chaplain Norris Burkes, will present this highly humorous and successful marriage program to military couples to help them address the unique challenges they face. There will also be marriage counselors available to provide you with individual counseling.

This rewarding, all-inclusive retreat gives veterans and their spouses the practical “tools” they need to enrich their marriage as they build their conservation legacy within the grandeur of Sequoia National Park

At the conclusion of the event, military couples will have a unique opportunity to plant a sequoia seedling in the Giant Forest. Over the generations, the tree will grow to become a majestic symbol of their dedication to one another.

For over 30 years, Nature Corps has designed voluntours with you in mind. We make all the arrangements so that you don’t have to. Our goal is to provide you with a “glamping” volunteer vacation that will leave you with new friends and a lifetime of cherished memories.
